Just a year after becoming the head coach at Siena, Jamion Christian accepted the job as the next head coach at George Washington on Thursday.
Christian took the Saints from a last place team to second in his first year. Siena finished 17-16 under Christian after going 8-24 under former Head Coach Jimmy Patsos.
Saints finished tied for second in the MAAC and beat Rider in the quarterfinal round of the tournament before losing to eventual champion Iona.
Siena and Shenendehowa grad Carmen Maciariello has been named interim head coach of the Saints. Hear from Siena Athletic Director John D'Argenio here.
We are thrilled to announce that Jamion Christian, who led Mount St. Mary’s to two NCAA Tournament appearances and turned Siena into one of the nation's most improved teams in 2018-19, has been hired as our head coach. #RaiseHigh https://t.co/W6UMYGdOxC pic.twitter.com/lOtQVPOCir— GW Men's Basketball (@GW_MBB) March 21, 2019
