Union College has cancelled its 2020-2021 ice hockey season due to the pandemic.

The move comes just one day after RPI announced the same.

Union says men's and women's ice hockey players will be given another season and academic year to compete.

The college says the teams will keep working with coaches to hone their skills.

Athletics Director Jim McLaughlin released the following statement in part:

"We explored every possibility to allow our students to compete, including remote learning opportunities within close proximity to campus. Unfortunately, we could not identify a scenario that allowed us to compete safely without compromising the academic experience of our student-athletes."
