Broadalbin-Perth students aim to be best cybersecurity team in the nation

Students in the Broadalbin-Perth School District have one of the best cybersecurity teams in the state. Now, they want to be one of the best in the country.

Broadalbin-Perth is one of 4,000 teams in the Air Force Association's Cyber Patriot Competition. Teams get an operating system with problems -- and they fix them.

These kids are using algorithms and writing and running code. Some of them are surprised at how much they can do, just with what they've learned here.

This is an elective, but their teacher, Billy Eipp, says it's launched careers. Once his students find out how much they can do with computer science, many go into the field.

Even they don't, Eipp says the problems they solved using STEM here make them better problem-solvers with whatever they end up doing down the road.
