SCHENECTADY - A 24-hour "Hackathon" will be held in Schenectady next month.
Competitors will be given a challenge and need to come up with a solution. Participants will have one day to design, code, test and submit their projects to a judging panel.
The event is expected to draw as many as 200 developers and designers from across the northeast.
The CEO of Transfinder, the software developer putting on the event, says it could be a game changer for Schenectady.
"I'm excited about being a part of this endeavor to bring the best and brightest here. They may return here, locate here, start jobs here. Overall, let's keep the talent here," asserted Antonio Civitella.
The competition begins Feb. 10. The winner will receive a $5,000 prize.
Cisco, AT&T, redShift and DeCresente Distributing Co. are sponsoring the event. More sponsors are welcome. SCCC is donating space.
