Robotics competition for high schoolers held at RPI

TROY - Hundreds of high school students are competing for a slot in the First Robotics World Championship. RPI in Troy is once again hosting the event.

This year's game is called "FIRST Destination Deep Space."

The students had six weeks to design, build, program and test their robots.

They have two and a half minutes to gather as many cargo pods as possible before the next sandstorm arrives.

The regional competition is sponsored by General Electric, GlobalFoundries, National Grid and Applied Materials.
