Rocket lesson blasts-off at Wynantskill school

WYNANTSKILL - STEM doesn't have to be rocket science. Then again, sometimes it does.

NewsChannel 13 recently visited the Robert Parker School in Wynantskill as they launched rockets. It was the culmination of a long unit.

There was a lot of anticipation leading up to this day, because before you enjoy the thrill of engineering success -- or experience the failure, you must first learn about the science of rocketry.

Students learned velocity and aerodynamics. Then, they learned the art of rocket design through putting one together.

The admissions director says the mix of learning theory inside and then testing it outside really makes the lessons stick. Plus, it's a lesson in teamwork and persistence.
