NORTH GREENBUSH – NewsChannel 13 is celebrating National Nano Days. Visitors to the Children's Museum of Science and Technology in North Greenbush were sharing the excitement on Friday.

They were introduced to nanoscience by SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The activities provide a hands-on approach to learning about magnetics, electrical circuits, and solar energy.

“Kids have a very good grasp of the abstract,” said Kim Garrett of the SUNY Polytechnic Institute. “[They’re] very creative thinkers. That's exactly what the STEM fields need going forward. Kids are a great audience to talk to about STEM and nano in particular because they can really build their knowledge in school and think about pursuing it as a career.”

Garrett says nanoscience is behind most of the recent innovations in technology and consumer goods.
