Simply getting racehorses to Saratoga viewed as modern luxury

The excitement is building in Saratoga Springs as the Saratoga Race Course opens on Thursday.

How the thoroughbreds got to Saratoga is far different than in years past.


Many of the horses running over the next 40 racing days were trucked into town. Others were flown in.

However, there was a time when horse transportation was less glamourous and modern means of transportation for horses was simply not an option.
