Albany Black Chamber of Commerce & Social Club unveils its new home
The Albany Black Chamber of Commerce & Social Club unveiled to the public its new home. The newly renovated space is meant to help Black entrepreneurs. It’s located on Washington Avenue.
For over a year now, leaders with the Albany Black Chamber of Commerce & Social Club have been working to make the day a reality. They wanted to open the space on Wednesday as a way to celebrate the first day of Black History Month.
Several people stood outside the building for the ribbon cutting. Afterwards, everyone went inside, so they could get a tour of the space.
The building, which used to be the University Club, underwent many renovations. Inside there is office space, a kitchen and a place where people can gather for recreation. Leaders from the chamber say the goal is to provide a resource for Black entrepreneurs.
The Albany Black Chamber of Commerce & Social Club is hoping that their new space will serve as a blueprint for other community organizations.
