Albany’s Democratic mayoral candidates gather for Q&A ahead of looming primary

Albany residents will go to the polls on Tuesday, June 24, to choose the person who will most likely become the Albany’s 76th mayor.

Because of the city’s overwhelming Democratic enrollment advantage, the winner of the Democratic primary will likely succeed three-term mayor Kathy Sheehan, who isn’t running again.

The four Democratic hopefuls gathered Tuesday for a candidates forum, moderated NewsChannel 13’s Dan Levy.

Each candidate forum has its own theme.

Tuesday’s forum at the Renaissance Albany Hotel was sponsored by Rehabilitation Support Services.

The issues included homelessness, mental health, public safety, partnerships with non-profit, social service organizations, and other related issues.

The candidates answered questions from Levy and audience members.

With three weeks left until decision day, you might ask the question: are there still people who haven’t yet made up their minds?

Hear what the candidates had to say about that by watching the video of Dan Levy’s story.
