Black Lives Matter leader in Saratoga Springs Court for disorderly conduct charge

A local Black Lives Matter leader faced a judge Tuesday in Saratoga Springs City Court.

Chandler Hickenbottom was cited for disorderly conduct after a city council meeting last month that got heated.

Hickenbottom was speaking during public comment, when chaos broke out.

As members of the council tried to gain control of the situation, tensions escalated, and the meeting had to end early.

The public safety commissioner later filed a criminal complaint.

The mayor – along with three members of the city council – disagreed with the public safety commissioner’s request. However, the commissioner stands by his decision.
