A 10-year-old boy in Washington County – who has autism – was left at school on Wednesday.

Durrin Transportation was supposed to pick up the boy, but the driver never came, his mom, Melissa Robertson, said.

She added that she and Hudson Falls Central School District officials were never notified the driver was not going to be there.

Robertson’s son is a part of the BOCES Bears program with the Hudson Falls Central School District, she explained. The program uses a classroom at the Fort Ann Central School District. Her son was supposed to be picked up at 2:15 p.m.

When she and a friend came to pick up her son, they got into a car accident on the way. A tractor trailer hit them from behind while they were at the red light.

Hudson Falls Central School District Superintendent Daniel Ward said they are investigating what happened. He said the company had a shortage of drivers and adds they were not notified.

The district is working with Robertson to find interim transportation for her child. He also said anyone interested in being a bus driver should give the district a call.

NewsChannel 13 made several attempts to try and get in contact with Durrin Transportation, but was unsuccessful getting a hold of someone.

Durrin has been a reliable transportation service in the past, the superintendent said.
