A court date has been set for a suspect accused of shooting and burying a dog in Amsterdam.

NewsChannel 13 has learned the suspect involved, Harold Lampkin Sr. from Amsterdam will face a judge in Florida Town Court on July 7.

As NewsChannel 13 reported on Monday, Lampkin is facing charges after investigators say they found a dachshund chihuahua chow mix buried in the town of Florida.

A necropsy shows the dog died after being shot several times.

Investigators found a loaded rifle at Lampkin’s home, they said.

He is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and criminal possession of a weapon.
