Driver seriously injured after being struck by their own vehicle

A driver was seriously injured after being stuck by their vehicle.

State Police said it happened around 11:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27 on Route 29 in Mayfield. A vehicle was stopped on the shoulder of the roadway. The driver was outside and in front of the vehicle.

A second vehicle crashed into the car stopped on the shoulder, pushing it into the driver standing outside.

That person was taken to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to police.

The other driver was taken to the hospital as well.

Route 29 was closed for about two hours.
