Volunteers are finishing a weeks-long local effort to help victims of the earthquake in Turkey.

The daily drive collected clothing, blankets, sleeping bags and hygiene products.

Thanks to the community’s generosity, 1,500 in total on three full trucks were donated to the Turkish Embassy. Those items are making their way to Turkey now.

The donation drive in Menands was an effort by three mosques in the area and the local Turkish community.

More than 41,000 people died in the quake, which affected Turkey and Syria.

Thousands more people are without a home in the middle of winter.
