Family, friends pay respects at Samantha Humphrey’s memorial service

People came out to pay their respects to Samantha Humphrey on Saturday. A steady crowd arrived at Daly Funeral Home in Schenectady for her memorial service.

Samantha was just 14 years old. Police announced Friday that they’re investigating her death as a homicide.

Samantha was a daughter, a sister and a high school student. People in this community are devastated by her loss.

The family asked people to wear purple and black to match Samantha’s birthstone.

The story of Samantha Humphrey is one NewsChannel 13 has followed since the beginning. The teenager went missing on Nov. 25 after she went to meet up with an ex-boyfriend late at night at Riverside Park in Schenectady.

Police carried out an extensive search along the Mohawk River for nearly three months.

Her body was recovered on Feb. 22 after being spotted by two fishermen.
