Former college football player from Pittsfield dies of cardiac arrest

A Pittsfield native and former college football player has died – days after going into cardiac arrest when out for a jog, last week.

Jake Hescock was running Tuesday in Boston when he collapsed, report NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle.

The paper says according to Facebook posts from friends and family, someone found the 25-year-old man and was able to get him resuscitated.

Hescock was put in intensive care at a hospital, but he passed away Sunday. Hescock played college football at the University of Wisconsin and University of Central Florida, listed on the UCF roster as a 6 ft., 7 in., 250 pound tight end. According to the Eagle, Jake was working on his second bachelor’s degree in finance and interested in coaching football.
