Hiroshima observes 77th anniversary of atomic bombing

The city of Hiroshima observed the 77th anniversary of the atomic bombing with an annual memorial ceremony.

The anniversary was observed Saturday at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

The ceremony featured a moment of silence in remembrance of the time when the bomb was dropped on the city.

Several speakers which included the Japanese Prime Minister and United Nations Secretary General also called for peace and the abolishment of nuclear weapons.

There are 333, 907 people recognized as victims of the nuclear bomb.
