Gov. Kathy Hochul was in Albany on Wednesday to highlight public safety proposals in the state budget.

Funding will expand programs and services to further drive down gun violence, address the flow of deadly fentanyl and improve the efficacy of the court system, which was disrupted by the pandemic, she said.

In her budget proposal, $337 million will go towards programs designed to prevent and reduce gun violence. That includes more than $84 million for youth employment programs.

The state budget is due April 1.
