Hochul: Late budget will be worth it

Gov. Kathy Hochul said Thursday the wait for the late state budget – which was due April 1 – is worth it.

While in Rensselaer County with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday to announce $21 million in infrastructure funding for the Castleton-On-Hudson Bridge, she gave a brief insight into some of the budget banter.

“The right budget is more important than an on-time budget, and we’ve been working around the clock. My team has not left town,” said Hochul. “We’re going to work hard through the weekend,” said Hochul.
The New York State Legislature has passed two extender bills to keep the government running.

The two big issues remaining in budget negotiations are bail reform and affordable housing.
