Hoosick Falls man arrested after police chase in Washington County

43-year-old Scott L. Morey of Hoosick Falls was arrested by New York State Police on Friday after a police pursuit in Washington County.

Authorities say they attempted to stop a vehicle around 9 p.m. in the area of Grandma Moses Road in White Creek for a vehicle and traffic violation.

They say the driver, later identified as Morey, failed to comply and a pursuit began.

The police pursuit continued in the area of Valley Summit Road in Easton, where a tire deflation device was successfully used by police. The vehicle continued onto State Route 40 in Easton, where the vehicle became disabled. Officials say they took Morey into custody shortly after.

The pursuit lasted about a half hour, and no other vehicles were involved, said Troopers.

Police add when Morey was taken into custody, he was found in possession of two glass smoking devices containing drug residue and an additional controlled substance.

Morey was charged with the following:

  • Third-degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle
  • Two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • Numerous vehicle and traffic law violations

Police say he was taken to State Police of Greenwich for processing, issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Easton Town Court on February 20, and released.
