House in Schenectady caught fire after truck crashed into it

Schenectady Fire Chief George Burns said a pick-up truck crashed into a house early Saturday morning at 1035 Van Velsen Street, causing the house to catch fire.

It happened around 3:34 a.m.

Officials said the exterior of the house caught fire and the interior filled with smoke. The fire was under control in less than 20 minutes.

Five people are displaced until the house can be repaired, said Chief Burns.

The driver and passenger of the pick-up truck suffered minor injuries.
