A woman in Saratoga County who was driving more than 90 miles per hour in the moments before causing a crash where a woman died, will have to wait two more weeks to learn her punishment.

Only NewsChannel 13 was in court Wednesday morning, as Ashley Donovan was expected to be sentenced for causing the death of Diane Welch back in October 2021.

It happened at the intersection of Route 9N and Lanie Drive in Greenfield.

Donovan was driving more than 90 miles hour – with three kids in her car – before she crashed her Nissan Rogue into Welch’s car.

When Donovan pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, the district attorney offered her a deal that would send her to jail for 90 days. However, Judge Jim Murphy said he received letters recently from Welch’s family members saying they don’t think that’s an appropriate sentence.
