The shooting death of Kaylin Gills devastated communities across the nation, but none more than the tight-knit community of Schuylerville.

NewsChannel 13 spoke with many business owners in the community. They did not want to go on camera, but had a lot of happy memories to share.

Employees at Sweeney’s Restaurant said they would see Gillis come in from time to time.
One of the owners of the Laffer Gallery says his niece was good friends with Kaylin.

Some of Gillis’ family works at Byron’s Market – a local grocery store. Her cousin is among them.
Some employees are covering for the family so they can go to the funeral, said the manager.

Hear from a man who has since moved away from Schuylerville, but thought it was important to come back to pay his respects to Gillis by watching the video of Tessa Bentulan’s story.
