Ballston Spa Christmas tree farm donates trees to troops
Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa teamed up with other farms to donate Christmas trees to troops. This was part of the nationwide Trees for Troops program.
Soldiers came to the farm on Monday to load nearly 100 trees on a truck. They will be delivered to military bases throughout the country for the Christmas season.
“Giving back to our military is extremely important because they are away from family, they’re away from home. And the Christmas tree, for a lot of people, is a tradition. So to have that tree come into your base or wherever you are around the world, it’s a piece of home and it kind of ties you to the holidays,” said Garth Ellms, owner of Ellms Family Farm.
“It’s all about morale, honestly, from a day-to-day basis. When they get things like this. It definitely brings up the morale, and it keeps them in the fight,” said Sgt. 1st Class Brandon Moseman from the Army National Guard.
The collection and delivery of the trees will take place between the end of November through the beginning of December.
