Man charged with weapons possession, menacing in lengthy Colonie standoff
The man accused of engaging in a nearly five-hour standoff with Colonie Police over the weekend is facing weapon and menacing charges.
Police responded to the area of Exchange Street and Duffy Lane around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. Antonie M. Clegg, 46, allegedly struck a person with a baseball bat and displayed a firearm. Clegg then fled in a vehicle.
Police said the Clegg later returned, and he refused multiple requests to surrender.
They are familiar with Clegg, as they say he was found in possession of a firearm in 2024. A mental health pickup order was ordered for Clegg.
He eventually surrendered just before 5:30 p.m. and was arrested.
Clegg was arraigned and sent to Albany County Jail, where he is to undergo a mental health evaluation.
His three dogs were not harmed during the incident and are being cared for at Boght Veterinary Clinic, according to police.
Investigators are still looking for the gun and want to know where Clegg went after he left the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Colonie Police Investigations Division at 518-783-2754.
