After a boil water advisory was put in place in Colonie, the town said it would give out water to residents Friday afternoon.

However, the water went quickly – leaving plenty of people empty-handed.

There were 65 cases of water, Supervisor Peter Crummey said.

They started handing them out at 3 p.m., with an end time of 4:30 p.m., but the demand was more than the supply.

“I waited 20 minutes in the southbound Route 9 traffic that was all goofed up, and I get here at 3:25, and they’re all out of water already,” said Timothy McGan, a Colonie resident. “Obviously, they didn’t order enough.”

The boil water advisory will be in effect until at least Sunday.
