Police: Greene County man took upskirt videos during Belmont Stakes

A Greene County man is accused of taking upskirt videos of women at Saratoga Race Course during the Belmont Stakes, and then police said he tried to choke a witness when confronted.

Saratoga Springs Police said Joseph A. Szepessy, 34, of Athens, was walking through the crowd covertly filming using a cell phone on Saturday. A witness alerted NYRA security and uniformed police officers about the activity.

When confronted by citizens, Szepessy allegedly became physically aggressive and tried to assault one of the people who reported him.

Szepessy was arrested without incident.

He was charged with unlawful surveillance, criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing. He was released on an appearance ticket and scheduled to be arraigned on June 26 at 9 a.m.

Police are asking anyone who believes they witnessed the incident or has more information to call 518-584-1800.
