Project underway to restore Amsterdam landmark damaged in Irene

The first phase of a project to restore an Amsterdam landmark is officially underway.

Guy Park Manor was badly damaged during tropical storms in 2011. 

The plan is to make a new educational facility and community gathering place.
Improvements include raising the building more than three feet to place the first floor seven-feet above the 100-year flood elevation.

The New York Power Authority is spending $300 million to revitalize the Erie Canal corridor.
