NewsChannel 13 learned from a source on Tuesday Kevin Monahan, 65, used a 20-gauge shotgun when he allegedly shot and killed Kaylin Gillis, 20.

Meantime, we’ve also obtained a copy of the criminal complaint against Monahan. It details what he was arrested for, and why he was charged with second-degree murder.

Monahan, a contractor with his own business, shot at a car that was heading up his driveway in Hebron late Saturday night.

Kaylin Gillis, 20, and two of her friends were in that car. The group got lost why trying to pick up another friend, and turned into Monahan’s driveway, investigators said.

They were leaving when Monahan allegedly shot at the car twice. One bullet hit Gillis.

The group drove several miles to get cell service in a rural town to call for help, but Gillis did not make it.

Records show the home Monahan lives in on Patterson Hill Road was built in 1989.
