The NewsChannel 13 Weekend Team presents a report of local and national news events, along with the latest local weather forecast and sports updates.

The Schenectady Fire Department said 12 people are displaced after a large fire involving two houses on Avenue A in Schenectady late Friday night.

Officials said the fire involved 1584 and 1588 Avenue A.

Schenectady Fire Chief George Burns told NewsChannel 13 the call came in around 11:19 p.m., and crews got there very quickly since their #4 station is only one block from where the fire was.

One person was taken to the hospital with burns, and Schenectady Police helped this individual out of the house, said officials.

Chief Burns said it took about two hours to get the fire under control.

The two houses are expected to be taken down Saturday, and the fire remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross said they are helping four people after the fire, and provided aid to two adults and two children, ages 5 and 6.
