RSC cases continue remain on the rise in young children.

Today, Senator Chuck Schumer spoke in New York City about the recent surge.

The senate majority leader noted that this is the busiest RSV season that has been seen in decades, especially in New York City.

In a press conference, Schumer called on the Department of Health and Human Services to take immediate action:

“New York City hospitals are getting right to the edge and I want the minute they need the help for HHS to be there on the ready. What can they do first, they can send additional doctors, nurses and medical staff to the hospitals that needed most.”

Children aren’t the only ones affected by RSV. Adults ages 65 and older and people with weakened immune systems are also considered to be groups most vulnerable to severe infections.
