Fred Astaire Dance Studios (FADS) in Albany and Saratoga Springs will be hosting their annual student showcase, this year-themed “Everybody Dance Now,” taking place on Sunday, January 26, at 12:00 p.m. at the Albany Marriott on Wolf Road.

This event celebrates the achievements of FADS students while sharing the joy of dance with the community. The 2025 showcase will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, with partial proceeds supporting the organization’s efforts to combat Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

This year’s theme, “Everybody Dance Now,” underscores the transformative power of dance—not just as an art form but as a scientifically proven way to enhance cognitive function, improve memory, and delay the effects of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

“Dance is more than just movement—it’s therapy for the mind, body, and soul,” said Elizabeth and Grey Masko, Owners of FADS Saratoga, and Boris and Sasha Spitchka, Owners of FADS Albany. “We are thrilled to use this event to celebrate our students’ hard work while also supporting the Alzheimer’s Association, whose mission is so close to our hearts.”

“It reduces stress and improves mood, and it engages the brain as you piece together new movements. Ballroom dancing, in particular, requires a lot of concentration and quick decision-making, which strengthens our cognitive acumen,” said Beth Smith-Boivin, executive director of the Alzheimer’s Association Northeastern New York Chapter. “We know there are things we can start incorporating into our daily lives today that may reduce our risk of cognitive decline in the future. One of these healthy habits is to get moving. So for many dancing – be it in a class setting or simply around your kitchen – is a great way to build more movement into your day.”

The showcase will feature performances from students of all levels, and tickets can be found on the organizer’s event page.
