Schumer: Bring chip manufacturing back to US

Semiconductor supply chains should run through the Capital Region, not China. That’s the message Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer brought to town Tuesday.

The senator paid a visit to Albany Nanotech.

He says Chinese companies are selling microchips used by the federal government, which makes the government more vulnerable to cyber-attacks, and could put your data at risk.

To fight the problem, Schumer is calling for a provision to be added to the National Defense Act – to protect information and the supply chain.
