The best friend of the man who was killed outside a Saratoga Springs bar is speaking out about the proposed sentence of one of the attackers.

Mark French was killed outside of Clancy’s Tavern in Saratoga Springs in August 2021.

Jordan Garafalo and his brother James punched the 56-year-old man, causing him to fall and hit his head on pavement.

Jordan Garafalo pleaded guilty late Friday to a reduced charge of assault and will get three years in prison followed by three years of supervision once he’s released.

Kevin Gordon is Mark French’s best friend. He’s angry about the proposed sentence and sent NewsChannel 13 a statement on Monday, saying:

“Garafalo’s mother should be proud she raised mutts like these two sons of hers — tough guys who sucker punched a defenseless, sick man from behind. It’s a sad time for our court system and the state when this scum only gets 3 years for killing a man.”
