A construction company has offered to renovate the family home of a 2-year-old boy battling a rare brain condition. This comes after NewsChannel 13 first introduced you to Leo Cruz earlier this week.

The little boy from Rensselaer was diagnosed with lissencephaly when he was four months old.

Lissencephaly is a condition known as “smooth brain,” which affects one in 100,000 people, and impacts development, movement, and the ability to eat. Leo can’t sit up or hold his head up.

NewsChannel 13 spoke with the company doing the work, they don’t want their name out there. They said they just wanted to help. However, construction on the home, including a ramp and upgrades to the bathroom, will begin shortly.

A fundraiser for the Cruz family is this Sunday, May 4, at Bootlegger’s in Troy. It starts at noon and is open to the public.
