Construction begins on environmentally friendly apartments in Troy
Construction has started on what developers say will be one of the most environmentally sustainable buildings in the Capital Region.
The Rosenblum Development Corporation broke ground on a new $22 million multifamily building and revealed the building’s name – SOL.
The building at 1818 5th Ave. will be passive house certified, which means it will use 40% to 60% less energy than buildings that are constructed to typical code standards.
“SOL will be a four-story, 55,000-square-foot, 71 new construction apartment building in the heart of downtown Troy, on a site that has basically been blighted for years. It will be the city of Troy’s first all-electric, zero-emission building and one of the most environmentally sustainable buildings in the Capital Region.
The building will also have a co-working space, entertainment lounge, community kitchen and pet spa.
Construction is expected to be finished next summer.
