Former Blessings Tavern reopens under new management, fresh menu
The former Blessings Tavern is now open under new management – as Blessings Family Restaurant.
“We really wanted to continue the legacy of Blessings, and its hometown place in Colonie. It’s a little different, and it’s got our stamp on it; but it’s been wonderful,” said co-owner Sean Willcoxon.
Willcoxon and Bill Miller also own Tinney’s Tavern in Lake Desolation.
“We have customers that still come today, you know, in the last two weeks to tell us stories about how this restaurant has evolved and evolved,” Willcoxon said.
Blessings still offers your classic tavern options, like Reuben sandwiches, French dips, burgers, and wings.
You can also catch a new Italian twist on things.
“There’s a section on the menu called Mom’s Kitchen and my mom makes all the meatballs and the sauces and the chicken cutlets, and people are really loving those,” he said.
Willcoxon says the biggest new additions can be found in the entree section of the menu.
“So we’ll now offer a pork chop, a steak, a salmon, and so, you truly can come here and have some wings, or you can come here and you know, have a real nice dinner with, you know, a bottle of wine,” he said.
The new owners had some fun with renovations to the building, they told NewsChannel 13. They wanted to refresh the look, but still make people to still feel at home.
Ed Blessing was the founder of the restaurant, so the name is a play on his name.
