Woman accused of hitting toddler at Clifton Park child care facility

A Ballston Spa woman is accused of hitting a toddler while working at a Clifton Park child care center.

Amy J. Henninger, 48, allegedly struck the child and caused bruises and scratches.

State Police said they received information on Jan. 22 about a toddler that had been injured at SmartEarly Learning Center the previous day. The parent said the injury happened at some point from when the child was dropped off at 9 a.m. until they picked up at around 2 p.m. The child was taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and treatment, but did not require admission.

Henninger turned herself in and was charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She was arraigned in Clifton Park Town Court and released on an appearance ticket.

Henninger was fired from her position.
