Troy attempted robberies leave business owners on edge

The Iron Works Grill Barbeque Restaurant and Jake's Barber Shop on Campbell Avenue in Troy have both had unwelcome guests show up at their front door in the last few weeks.

When someone tried to get in to the barbeque joint two weeks ago, they did it by shattering the glass on the front door at 2 a.m.
It also happened to be 2 o'clock in the morning.

Owner Howard Gross says the video surveillance system was operating "fine" but the culprit's face was obscured by the "open for business" sign.

Meanwhile, at Jake's Barber Shop, someone tried to smash through the front door at around 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

When neighbors heard the commotion, they ran outside, and the suspects took off in a dark-colored car with Massachusetts license plates.

There have also been attempted armed robberies in recent weeks at the gas station just down the street.

Business owners are a bit concerned, and wonder why stopping it is such a challenge.

Hear some of their concerns by watching the video of Dan Levy's story.
