NORTH GREENBUSH - Fire crews in North Greenbush were busy on Tuesday evening.

They got a call for smoke in the basement at a home at 22 Scythe Tree Lane.

They said a man and a dog were home at the time but made it out before crews arrived.

Fire did reach the first floor, and there were no fire hydrants in the area, so tankers had to be brought in.

The question came up about social distancing. The chief said in a situation like this, staying six-feet apart can be a challenge, but they do try.

There is no word yet on the cause or how the fire started.
