Low interest rate loans through the Small Business Administration are available for people who were impacted by major flooding in Rensselaer County in July.
An outreach center has been established in Sand Lake, one of the hardest hit communities. These are low interest loans geared at helping people repair and recover from this.
The center opened Tuesday afternoon, and the town says they've already had four people come through the doors.
While progress has been made in hard hit communities like Sand Lake, the road to recovery is far from over.
"I get calls every day from people that don't know how they are going to pay for their recovery, that are having problems," said Sand Lake Town Supervisor Nancy Perry. "So with major damage, we had 18 homes, we had seven business. They had nearly $2 million worth of damages. We also have around 300 other homes and businesses just in the town of Sand Lake that had $2.3 million worth of damages."
That's why Perry was thrilled when Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the Small Business Administration has low interest rate loans available for businesses and homeowners who were impacted in Rensselaer County, and also for people in Columbia, Greene, Saratoga and Washington counties.
A disaster loan outreach center is open in the Sand Lake town building now through September 24 to help guide people through the application process.
