Troy police say a flare gun was discharged near the railroad tracks behind School 12 Wednesday.
Police were called to the scene after receiving a call about possible shots fired in the area.
Due to the proximity to School 12, the school was placed under lockout.
Police say there is no threat to public safety. All units were cleared from the scene.
@TroyNYPolice are on scene near the railroad tracks behind School 12 (1st Street) where a caller reported having heard shots fired. School 12 is in a precautionary lock out. No suspects have been located, patrols are investigating to determine if shots were actually fired.

All students/staff are safely inside. Expect a police presence at the scene until the investigation is complete.

We have determined a flare gun was discharged in a wooded area near railroad tracks in South Troy near 1st St. Due to the proximity to area schools, preventative measures were taken but at no point were any students/staff involved in the incident. Units are clear from the scene.
