Troy police say a flare gun was discharged near the railroad tracks behind School 12 Wednesday.
Police were called to the scene after receiving a call about possible shots fired in the area.
Due to the proximity to School 12, the school was placed under lockout.
Police say there is no threat to public safety. All units were cleared from the scene.

We have determined a flare gun was discharged in a wooded area near railroad tracks in South Troy near 1st St. Due to the proximity to area schools, preventative measures were taken but at no point were any students/staff involved in the incident.
