GLENS FALLS - A massive fire broke out at a warehouse on Dix Avenue in Glens Galls Wednesday evening.

Glens Falls Fire Chief James Schrammel said the first crews arrived on scene at North Country Janitorial Inc. just before 7 p.m. He said they knew they were going to need help fighting this fire so they immediately called for mutual aid.

Schrammel said one person was inside the building when the flames broke out.

"She wasn't sure there was a fire,” Schrammel said. “She said it was warm, she went over into the office which is in the adjacent building and she got to the office they had a fire alarm coming from this building."

Schrammel said it took about an hour to get the flames knocked down.

"We kept fire out of one side of the building where they kept their vehicles and some of their equipment the other side of the building they would have to make an assessment moving forward,” he said.

Schrammel said they're already have a good idea of what caused the fire in the first place.

"The fire actually we pin down to a linen room in the middle, center core of the building so we know that for a fact we have video evidence of that," he said. "At this point in time it looks like spontaneous combustion within a bunch of linens."

Schrammel said though they have some surveillance video that shows the moments the fire started, they'll still do a full investigation into the cause.
