Skyler Crouse, the man accused of speeding away from police and causing a fatal crash, has hired a new attorney.

Crouse is accused of crashing into a truck on the Northway Exit 25 off-ramp, killing Joseph Turcotte.

Crouse wasn't satisfied with a plea offer of up to 15 years in prison, so he hired Dana Vanhee, a Syracuse-area lawyer.

The judge has given Vanhee an extra week to get up to speed, so Crouse’s trial will now begin November 16.

Police say Crouse, who wears a shield in court because he spit at a NewsChannel 13 photographer, was driving as fast as 111 miles per hour before the crash.

He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of manslaughter and assault.
