Work continues to get rid of an invasive species attacking trees in Lake George.

The Nature Conservancy says they will begin treating the trees on Dome Island to get rid of the hemlock woolly adelgid next week.

The microscopic insect feeds on and kills hemlock trees, the most abundant tree in the Lake George basin.

About 60% percent of trees on the island are hemlocks.
