The Nation’s Weather for Friday, September 30, 2022

Ian, as a hurricane, will push toward the Carolina coast

with flooding rain, high winds and a significant storm surge

today. Locally severe thunderstorms near and just east of

the eye can trigger a few tornadoes and waterspouts as well.

The combination of low pressure associated with Ian and high

pressure over New England will create stiff onshore winds

that will initiate coastal flooding and beach erosion in the

mid-Atlantic. Most areas from New England to the Midwest,

Mississippi Valley and southern Plains can expect a dry and

sunny day. Frost will start the day in the Northeast. As a

storm pushes well inland over the West, areas of rain and

thunderstorms are forecast for the Rockies. Much of the West

Coast states will be dry and sunny.
