Gina Tronco of Latham knows how debilitating cancer can be. So when she was asked by a friend to raise money for this year’s annual fundraising event of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Upstate New York and Vermont, she didn’t hesitate.
Tronco is running for the organization’s “Visionary of the Year.” That’s the person who raises the most money for the agency for research. So she enlisted the help of her sister Elaina.
Elaina’s motto is “Go big or go home.” She didn’t want to just ask people for money. She wanted to do something memorable, and felt a local “Dancing with the Stars” event was the way to help raise money.
Just like the real show, Capital Region celebrities will be paired with professional dancers.
The dancers include NewsChannel 13’s Chris Onorato.
This fundraising event is so highly anticipated that it is already sold out. However, you can still make a donation to the campaign at this link.
There are other candidates doing all sorts of things to raise money. The person who raises the most money will be announced at a big event June 2 at Rivers Casino.
