When Dorian Perren was growing up, you could say the most exciting thing was not when she learned to walk, but to roll.

She started skating when she was 11 ½ years old and spent countless hours at the Rollarama rink in Rotterdam. In fact, her parents were co-owners.

It was the 1950s and Perrin says roller-skating was considered a favorite among girls.

Soon, Perren starting competing and taking trophies - including several national ones.

Today, she's back in the rink.

Learn more about how she's inspiring the next generation, by watching the video of Elaine Houston's story.
