TROY - Chances are if you lost your job, the first thing you wouldn't do is go into business for yourself. However, that's exactly what a Troy woman did and people are drinking it up.
Genika Blandshaw has mixed up the right ingredients for success.
She recently opened Juice Factory VII at 501 Broadway in Troy. They serve smoothies, soups, salads, sandwiches, and more. It’s hitting a spot with customers.
However, life was not always humming along. In 2017, a company she worked for folded. It caused a lot of worry with her kids were in private school, along with mortgages and car payments.
When her husband suggested she open a juice bar, she kind of thought he was bananas. She didn’t have any restaurant experience.
However, she did her research, volunteered at a juice bar and gave it a try. She overcame some initial bumps, and now people are loving it.
She says the challenge of balancing her work-home life shouldn’t prevent women from becoming entrepreneurs.
Learn more about her work ethic and how it’s driven her to success, by watching the video of Elaine Houston’s story.
